This past weekend I attended the Signature Craft Show  in Winnipeg, Manitoba - all Canadian handmade crafts. A couple of years ago I attended and was really disappointed, but this year made up for it. The variety of displays were amazing and not very many duplicate displays.

Once I have everything unpacked, there are few booths I want to hi-light. 

Meanwhile, I've been busy crocheting and knitting away.  Did you know you can knit & crochet on the plane?   I was so excited, I packed projects for both.  I knit a shrug, it was too small and I needed another project for the trip home so I've started to rework it.  I also made a couple of "slouchie" hats that I will be selling on my webpage janescrafts.ca. Too bad I didn't have someone to model it on. Oh well!

What's on Your Hook/Needle

I think I have far too many projects on my activity list lately. So far, I recently completed an afghan for my son,  a bright red Victorian dog collar-cover for a neighbour Rotie,  two granny squares for a future project. But the ongoing list is a little longer - tunisian face clothes w/ soap caddy, knitted shrug, crocheted shrug, queen size quilt,  a small dog shrug, and website revisions.  I love variety as you can tell from my lists. I would accomplish more if I used a pattern, but I don't, therefore, some items are reworked two or more times. But that's part of the fun.
 I really need to avoid websites with great ideas, my little fingers are always eager to try out something new.

Blogging

  Creating a blog is easy. Source out the best blogging format, sign up, and select a template for page views. Voila! Your blog is born. Well that was easy and virtually painless.  Now I'm ready to add content....
   There lies my dilemma - so many scattered thoughts. Where to begin. The 'blogging experts' say: provide quality, people love photos & videos, tutorials providing detailed explanations. Give them something to come back for.
   I can do that. Here goes!
"TODAY, I am knitting a ..." oops. Darn. I took it apart. I should have taken a photo. It was such a great idea for a pattern to use in, for an, um not sure. Oh well. I guess that's why I took it apart. Try Again!
"I have this great idea for a crocheted ...." um, something or other with the yarn I used to knit something. This looks good. Wait, I think a double crochet here would be better. Let me just take it back to...
  "KitKat! Stop, leave my yarn, noooooo, come back here. ohhh!!"  Oh well, no worries. Did I remember to take a pic? NO!! Now where's my camera - hah, look at that, it's sitting on the table beside me.....  :)

  I think I need to go back to the drawing board. Crafting and blogging at the same time does not work for me. But aren't women supposed to have a natural affinity for multi-tasking? I think mine moved out with my youngest.
First, I will take photos of everything, then work on the 'quality' content.

Try again

  Well here it is 4 months later and not one more word has been entered in my blog. The time has just flown by.  I was called back to work at the end of May and my blog and website went by the wayside.
  I did manage to start a few projects during the summer.   Not until the cooler weather, was I in the "mood" to complete.  One of my reworked & reworked projects' was a sunhat for my grand-niece. Sounds simple enough. The first little hat was too small, barely covered the top of her head. The next attempt 'swam' on her. She was not impressed, quickly pulled it off and chose to play with the crocheted butterfly. Maybe I should have made the butterfly into a hat! After a few more attempts, I finally created a hat that fits her, has a bit of stretch to it so it may fit next year too. I accomplished this task at the end of summer!!  No photos though - it fit, I sent it home with her.

  I had much more success with my next project. A cocoon or bunting bag. A baby shower gift that was for my nephew & his wife's baby-to-be.  
  She loved it. I didn't have to worry if it fits or not. The only drawback - she wants one for herself since it feels so snuggly. :)
  Can't blame her, this yarn is so soft and easy to work with. Good project for a chilly day.  The drawstring at the bottom of the bag allows you to change your little one without having to take them completely out. There should be enough room to keep his/her little head covered.  I will try to get a picture of my grand-nephew/niece in it.
